Artist Group Show

“Squeeze!”, commissioned by KVETCH, a berlin based music collective, emerged as a vibrant intersection of music, visual art, and performance.

It was initially showcased as part of Vorspiel 2023 by CTM & Transmediale in Berlin and later embarked on a journey to Athens for a captivating pop-up display.

The very essence of the show is encapsulated in the German word "quetsch," meaning 'squeeze,' which directly corresponds to KVETCH's commitment to bridging the realms of music and art within the pulsating atmosphere of the club scene. The exhibition materialized through an open call that echoed the name of the collective, resulting in a rich array of works that pushed the boundaries of creativity, both physically and metaphorically.

The exhibited works, in various ways, grapple with the theme of reshaping. They bear the marks of twists and alterations, pushing the boundaries of experimentation, both in a tangible, physical sense and within the realm of metaphorical exploration. Each piece, a unique reflection of the artist's interpretation of adaptability, contributes to the overarching narrative of the adaptable, echoing the resilience and transformative power inherent in the act of squeezing.

Squeeze! invites viewers to immerse themselves in a world where artistic boundaries are fluid, where the transformative potential of creative expression is celebrated, and where the image of the adaptable becomes a starting point for a journey through the diverse landscapes of music, visual, and performance art.

“In the physical act of squeezing, there exists an implicit demand for the object to possess an element of plasticity, a willingness to change its form and undergo transformation. It is this transformative quality that serves as a thematic anchor for the showcased works. Whether manipulated through hands-on processes or conceptual reconfigurations, the selected pieces embody a collective exploration of adaptability.

Metaphorically, the act of squeezing extends beyond the tangible, delving into the malleability of creative products, ideas, and concepts. Much like the physical plasticity required for squeezing, these works exhibit a similar creative 'plasticity,' a fluidity that allows them to be shaped and reshaped into diverse forms. The exhibition serves as a testament to the capacity of art to transcend rigid definitions and embrace a constant state of flux.”
