Lovemarks
or
“A teenager’s archive of yearning”
"Love Marks" explores the intimate yet public nature of desire, drawing parallels between physical and metaphorical markings of lust & longing. By juxtaposing the act of branding a body with branding a desk, we reflect on the line between secrecy and exhibitionism, obsession and confession - the universal nature of desire.
Comprising found objects, transcriptions of archival messages and fragments of the artist’s diary, the installation explores the intersection of teenage angst, lust, desire and the primal urge to leave a mark on the world. Here, the desk serves as a teenager's archive of yearning, a testament to the complexities of human emotion and ultimately a longing for connection.
